Flood victims in Sarawak drop to 90 this evening

    KUCHING: The flood situation in Sarawak is improving with decreasing number of victims at relief centres while three evacuation centres were closed.
    Sarawak State Civil Defence Department public relations officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said three relief centres sheltering 116 victims in Lundu District at Kampung Paon community hall, Nurul Huda Surau in Kampung Belungei and Kampung Jangkar community hall were closed at noon today.
    She said as at 4pm, only 90 victims from 20 families were still being housed at two evacuation centres, in Samarahan and Serian Division.
    "At Samarahan Division, the Samarahan Community Hall is sheltering 80 victims from 15 families and in Serian, the Darul Hadhari Surau in Kampung Rimba Padi, Asajaya is housing 10 victims from five families," she said when contacted.
    Siti Huzaimah said all victims placed at relief centres were provided with meals as well as sleeping facilities. – Bernama
