PETALING JAYA: Alumni of iconic schools Victoria Institution (VI) and St. John’s Institution (SJI) are in for a treat this Saturday as the century-old rivals will be “battling it out” to see which school has a richer heritage.
A free event organised by non-governmental organisation Badan Warisan Malaysia (BWM) as part of its “This KUL City” series, it promises an entertaining and lively debate as Victorian Chacko Vadaketh and Johanian Datuk Zahim Albakri will make their case for their respective alma maters.
Both schools have been awarded national heritage status with VI being the first day school in the country to receive the prestigious award in 2009, while SJI was gazetted as a heritage site the following year.
The event, dubbed “The Heritage Battle”, is open to the public and will be held at BWM’s office at No.2 Jalan Stonor, Kuala Lumpur in two sessions, from 11am to 12pm and 6pm to 7pm.
Those interested in attending the talk can register online at www.badanwarisanmalaysia.org or book their places via www.eventbrite.com.
