PADANG BESAR: The water level in the Timah Tasoh Dam here has recorded a double drop of 0.04m daily, since two days ago.
Perlis Drainage and Irrigation Department deputy director, Mohamad Nor Hafiz Noor Azmi said this could be due to water consumption by those returning to their villages and the influx of tourists during the Workers Day holiday.
He said the water level at the dam continued to drop 0.04m to 26.06m today from to 26.10m recorded yesterday.
"This rate is extraordinary because prior to this, the water level drop was around 0.01m or 0.02m a day, as such the public is urged to conserve water," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Nevertheless, he said, water supply at the dam could last until June if the drought persisted.
Perlis Meteorological Department director Muhammad Khalil Ab Aziz, when contacted, said the temperature in the state was 37.03°C at 3pm today compared to 33.5°C yesterday. — Bernama
