Najib: Pick leaders who are reliable, can bring development

LUNDU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak (pix) urged the people of Sarawak to use their voting rights wisely and pick leaders who are reliable and can bring development.
He said state elections gave them an opportunity to determine their future and the state's destiny.
"That is why we must use our rights wisely. We must choose those who can protect our future so that tomorrow will be much better than today.
"We want greater development for Sarawak. We do not want the opposition which can only make promises but cannot form the government," he said at a ceremony to hand over agriculture land titles at Estet Salcra Stenggang here today.
A total of 400 smallholders from six Salcra (Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority) estates namely Estet Undan, Estet Jagoi, Estet Stenggang, Estet Bratak, Estet Sebako, Estet Bajo-Cocoa received the titles. Also present was Salcra general manager Datuk Vasco Sabat Singkang.
Najib said it was the agenda of the Barisan Nasional (BN) to resolve issues related to Native Customary Rights (NCR) land in Sarawak.
"I did something that no other prime minister before me did, that is provide a RM100 million allocation for perimeter survey of NCR lands," he said.
He added that with the titles, the owners need not pay premium, annual tax, cost of preparing the titles and they could own their land in perpetuity.
At the event, Najib also announced a RM10 million allocation for building a bridge in Selampit here. — Bernama
