Malaysia receives acclaim from Global Summit of Women in Warsaw

PUTRAJAYA: The Career Comeback programme under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD) recently received acclaim from the Global Summit of Women delegation in Warsaw, Poland.
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, who attended the annual conference organised by Warsaw, Poland, from June 9 to 11, had received acclaim from the Global Summit of Women President, Irene Natividad.
According to a statement by the Ministry, the Career Comeback programme that was under the leadership of Rohani was expected to enable women who had left their jobs due to various domestic reasons such as carrying out the responsibility of childbirth; taking care of parents or taking care of loved ones who are sickly, to return to the labour market.
"Irene urged other countries to emulate the noble effort of Malaysia in enabling women to remain productive in the labour market; the main struggle of gender equality.
The conference also became a platform for Rohani to share the efforts of the Malaysian government in increasing the participation of women in the labour market through efforts of improving the child care system at nurseries and the implementation of flexible working hours that could contribute to the increase of women in the labour market.
Rohani also shared Malaysia's efforts in carrying out the "Programme Life at Work Awards" that had attracted the involvement of the private sector in preparing a more conducive working environment for women workers and their families.
"Close collaboration between the government and the private sector to acculturate these efforts will ensure a sustainable and balanced development for Malaysians," said Rohani. — Bernama
