HULU SELANGOR: Police are on hunt for three individuals including a woman who were captured in a footage escaping with two gold chains worth RM15,000 at a jewellery shop near here yesterday.

Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent R. Supramaniam said the incident took place at about 1pm in a jewellery shop at Kuala Kubu Baru.

“Statements from the complainant, who is an employee in the shop, revealed that one of the three suspects came to the shop and posed as a customer at about 11am.

“The suspect asked about the price of a gold chain that was showcased and informed the employee that he will return later to purchase it for his wife and daughter,” Supramaniam said in a statement today.
Moments later at about 1pm, the suspect was accompanied by a woman and enquired about the same chain.

“As the couple was busy negotiating the price, a man suddenly approached the couple and snatched the chain away. The couple was also seen escaping the scene with the third suspect in a car,” he said.

The whole incident was captured on a closed-circuit security camera (CCTV) and checks also found that the registration number of the vehicle used by the suspects was fake.

Supramaniam said an operation to track down the trio is ongoing and urged people with information about the incident to come forward to help with the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.
