SANDAKAN: A teacher sustained injury after being stabbed in the neck with a knife by an unidentified man at a car park near a restaurant at 4th Mile here, yesterday.
Sandakan police chief ACP Zabidi Mohd Zain said in the 6.20pm incident, the 27-year-old teacher was parking her car to buy meals for dinner at a nearby restaurant.
"The man, armed with a knife, appeared from outside the driver's door where she sat and told her to move to the seat next to her.
"In a panic, the victim cried for help causing the man to stab her before he fled the scene," he told reporters here today.
Zabidi said subsequently, she drove her car towards the front part of the premises for help from passers-by but she claimed she was ignored.
He said the victim later drove to her house and was sent to a hospital here by her housemate.
Zabidi said police were now closing in on the male suspect who had been described by the victim as skinny, about five feet tall, with oval face, short hair, big eyes and in his 20s.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means. — Bernama
