Ringgit ends almost flat against US dollar

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit ended almost flat against the US dollar today as the recovery in selected commodity prices capped losses, a dealer said.
At 6pm, the local unit was traded at 4.4170/4250 against the greenback from 4.4170/4230 on Monday.
A dealer said that the greenback might be looking at some profit-taking activity, moving forward after rising for the past 10 trading days.
He said the effect of Donald Trump's US presidential victory on the currency seemed to be halting before the Thanksgiving holiday, with the encouraging recovery of commodities prices squeezed on pro-dollar positions.
The local unit was traded lower against other major currencies.
It was lower against the Singapore dollar at 3.1042/1103 from 3.0994/0041 on Monday and weakened against the British pound to 5.5102/5220 from 5.4479/4558 yesterday.
The ringgit slipped against the yen to 3.9875/9955 from Monday's 3.9857/9930 and fell against the euro to 4.7023/7117 from 4.6957/6837 previously. — Bernama
