Driver survives 5m plunge from flyover

    BUKIT MERTAJAM: A driver of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) escaped death after a 5m plunge to the ground from a flyover at the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway today.

    Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the incident happened at about 3am near Jalan Tok Kandu near here.

    He said the 31-year-old was heading for home in Taman Seri Mengkuang when he lost control of the vehicle before the plunge to the road below.

    “He suffered minor injuries but the vehicle was badly damaged at the front and roof,” he said when contacted, adding the case was being investigated under the Road Transport Act 1987.

    Passers-by had notified the authorities and helped the victim out of the wreck.
