GEORGE TOWN: Computing and electronic engineering students of Disted College now have the option of finishing their studies at the prestigious Toyhashi University of Technology in Japan.

This comes after the College signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Dec 18 with the University.

Disted College President and CEO Seah Soo Aun said this was the first such transfer program between a Malaysia private higher learning institution and a Japanese university.

He said students under the Disted Japanese Transfer Program (JTP) will complete their diploma locally before finishing their studies in Japan.

“This is open to all Malaysian and international students who wish to pursue their studies in the field of computing and electronic engineering and earn an undergraduate or even a postgraduate qualification in Japan,” he said prior to the signing ceremony recently.

In addition to the JTP, the college has also established a Disted Scholarship and Bursary Award fund to further encourage prospective students to purse the program at the College.

Seah said the realisation of the JTP was part of the aspiration for Disted to be a premier college in teaching and preparing graduates to work in a global environment.

“In this era of globalisation and interdependence, a cooperative partnership with other institutions of academic excellence around the world is not an option, but a necessity,” he added.
