Tow truck agent fined for insulting policeman

KUALA LUMPUR: A tow-truck agent was slapped with the maximum fine of RM100, in default three days' jail, by the Magistrate's Court here today for insulting a policeman.
Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som meted out the fine on Zulkeflee Abu, 53, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
The offence was committed at Jalan Sungai Besi near the Sungai Besi roundabout heading to Jalan Tun Razak here at 6am last Feb 12.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Farah Adilah Noordin prosecuted, while Zulkeflee was unrepresented.
According to the facts of the case, the policeman was controlling the traffic at an accident site and instructed tow truck agents who had gathered in the area to shift their vehicles elsewhere.
This angered the accused, who then approached the policeman and hurled offensive words at him. — Bernama
