FANS of heavy metal music can rejoice that international metal icon Megadeth – which recently won a Grammy for best metal performance – will be performing at Stadium Negara on May 4 at 8pm.
Organised by IME Malaysia, the concert is part of the band’s tour for its most recent album Dystopia.
Founded in 1983, Megadeth virtually gave birth to a genre when its debut release, Killing is My Business … and Business is Good, became recognised as ‘the greatest thrash metal debut album of all time’ by VH1.com.
“Kuala Lumpur is somewhere I’ve always wanted to hit when we’ve been trekking through Asia,” co-founder and frontman Dave Mustaine said recently.
“They’re going to let us bring our brand of metal music; it’s really rewarding.”
The current Megadeth line-up comprises Mustaine on vocals and guitar, David Ellefson on bass, Kiko Loureiro on guitar and Dirk Verbeuren on drums.
Dystopia is the band’s first album in three years and its 15th album to date.
The album is also listed as one of the 20 best metal albums of 2016 by Rolling Stone magazine.
To date, Megadeth has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades, including 12 Grammy nominations and five consecutive platinum albums.
