KUALA LUMPUR: The government, through the Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB), will embark on an innovative project to build housing projects at sewage treatment plant areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the project would deliver 500,000 affordable houses, especially in the city centre.
"One of the government's main agenda is to tackle the housing issue, we are very committed in addressing this issue not only to those who can afford to buy houses, but to those who are less fortunate as well.
"The smart partnership is very creative as previously it would take a big area to build a sewage treatment plan but with a new technology, we can build houses near the area," Ahmad Zahid said when launching the SPNB 20th Anniversary celebration held at Menara Felda here.
