KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained a man who allegedly called others to behead lawyer and activist Siti Kassim.
City police chief Commisoner Datuk Amar Singh (pix) confirmed the arrest but did not divulge further information on the arrest.
"We detained the man last night and have obtained remand order for three days," he said when asked via text message.
Meanwhile, Siti had made a Facebook posting today about the suspect and included some screenshots of the man she claimed to have allegedly made the threat.
"This is the guy who gave out the call to behead me," she said via her personal Facebook page.
The man had allegedly posted two online posts on Siti, one on July 3 and another on July 19.
It was reported that on July 3, the man had posted an article from a news portal about Siti's comments on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community. Siti has since said she was misquoted in the article.
Siti Kassim said it was one of the most serious threats that she has received so far, which prompted her to lodge a police report at Sentul district police station on July 23 as she feared for her safety.
