PETALING JAYA: Top DAP and PKR leaders are avoiding Malay majority areas and it begs the question if they already know that here will be no Malay tsunami as certain Pakatan Harapan leaders have claimed, said MCA Publicity Bureau chairman Senator Datuk Chai Kim Sen.
He said PKR's Tian Chua admitted that he was hesitant to contest in the seats of Tebrau and Ledang in Johor which have more Malay voters although Pakatan Harapan had declared Johor as the key battleground state.
"At the same time, PKR's Xavier Jayakumar was forced to move seats after he said that his current Sungai Kandis seat in Selangor has now got more Malays after the redelineation.
"DAP's Tony Pua does not want to go to Bentong in Pahang while Gobind Singh, Teoh Nie Ching and Boo Cheng Hau are hesitant to be re-deployed to other seats in Johor which have a greater population of Malay voters," Chai said in a statement today.
He pointed out that despite this DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang continues to advocate the so-called Malay tsunami.
The MCA deputy national organising secretary said when incumbent Johor Baru MP Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad challenged the DAP stalwart to contest in Johor Baru, Kit Siang repeatedly evaded a response.
He said it seems that the more well-known PKR and DAP leaders are avoiding Malay-majority seats.
Chai said if there was going to be a Malay tsunami as claimed by Pakatan Harapan leaders, these PKR and DAP leaders should be rushing to those seats with more Malay voters in order to ride the tsunami wave.
