GEORGE TOWN: Electrical maintenance and pipe connection works will be carried out at the Sungai Dua Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Seberang Perai Utara from 9am until 3pm on Sept 23, according to the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP).
PBAPP chief executive officer Datuk Jaseni Maidinsa in a statement, said that some consumers would experience short periods of low water pressure if there was higher than normal water demand.
"The Sungai Dua WTP is Penang's largest WTP. It produces more than 80% of the treated water distributed throughout the state daily.
"Nevertheless, PBAPP will strive to ensure that the works scheduled from 9am until 3pm on Saturday do not disrupt water supply on Seberang Perai and Penang island," he said.
Jaseni said PBAPP would be filling up reservoirs throughout the state before works commence and would be monitoring water distribution pressure throughout Penang, as well as implementing remedial measures as necessary.
Consumers who experience low water pressure were requested to call PBAPP's 24-hour call centre at 04-2558255, he added. — Bernama
