KENINGAU: The people must always exercise moderation in solving problems and endeavour to find similarities and accept differences among themselves to ensure unity is maintained.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup (pix) said the cordial ties and co-operation between the races in the country must continue to be empowered because it was crucial in ensuring the country could face a myriad of challenges to achieve its aim.
"The ethnic ties in the country must be fostered with moderation and consensus every time because it reflects a personality which can uphold our identity," he said in his speech at the Sabah Department of National Unity and Integration's Unity Week Celebration Programme and Rukun Tetangga Carnival near here, today.
In the meantime, Kurup wanted the people to boost unity and reminded the people against being easily influenced by irresponsible quarters who sought to disrupt the prosperity and progress achieved all these while.
During the ceremony, Kurup also approved a special allocation of RM111,000 for Rukun Tetangga in the Pensiangan Parliamentary seat. — Bernama
