PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a Facebook user for allegedly insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, according to a Twitter posting by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

"Congratulations to KL Crime Investigation Division for successfully nabbing 'Catt Ginger' who had insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong," he said.
Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department deputy director (cyber crime and multimedia investigations) SAC Datuk Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din said that on Tuesday (July 4), police had arrested a 41-year-old woman in Taman Usahawan Kepong at midnight.
He said the woman who hails from Sabah is Catt Ginger from Facebook.
"Police have confiscated an iPhone 6 Plus, a laptop, a modem and a router from the woman's house," said Kamaruddin.
He added police will be seeking a remand order for the woman and the case will be investigated under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In the Facebook post, Catt Ginger had allegedly uploaded a picture of Sultan Muhammad V that was edited with a lewd and inappropriate image to it.
The user had also written "Selamat Hari Raya" on the picture of the Agong on June 25, which was the first day of Raya.
The individual had then deleted the post on July 1 and wrote on her page claiming that her Facebook account was hacked and she did not upload the picture.
She also stated that she will be lodging a police report and complaint to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Checks by theSun show that the Catt Ginger Facebook page has been deleted and there is no trace of her controversial posting.
