Family institutions must play role in drug addicts' rehabilitation: Tengku Abdullah

KUANTAN: Family institutions are encouraged to play a role in supporting the rehabilitation of their family members who have drug addiction problems by joining them for rehabilitation programmes.
Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said it was to provide moral support to drug addicts to get out of their addition.
"I hope families are also involved in all rehabilitation programmes for drug addicts, especially in programmes involving counselling. This is to raise awareness of the family to curb and help the addicts not to go back to abusing drugs," he said.
Tengku Abdullah was attending a charity dinner organised by the Drug Intervention Community (DIC) here last night.
Also present were Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and DIC chairman Datuk Dr Ahmad Shukri Ismail.
He also expressed concern over the growing menace among the community and urged all parties, especially relevant agencies to jointly monitor the problem to curb it from spreading. — Bernama
