Fernandes departing? It's a hoax, says AirAsia

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia has strongly denied claims that AirAsia Group CEO and AirAsia X Co-Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes will be resigning to enter the financial technology sector.
Members of the public and media are advised to disregard screenshots of a hoax CNN story entitled “Tony Fernandes Leaves Air Asia, Jumps On Financial Tech” circulating on social media.
Fernandes remains committed to AirAsia and will continue to oversee its strategic direction and business operations, the airline said in a statement.
AirAsia Bhd’s share price was down 2.3% to RM4.25, while AirAsia X’s share price was 4.7% lower at 40.5 sen today.
