PEKAN: Felda Global Ventures (FGV) has allocated about RM10 million so far, for the "ibadah korban" (ritual of sacrifice) at 317 land schemes nationwide, since it was listed on Bursa Malaysia five years ago.
FGV officer-in-charge Datuk Khairil Anuar Aziz said the programme, which had been part of the company's corporate social responsibility, also aimed at fostering close ties with Felda settlers who had been the pulse of the land scheme.
"FGV has paid RM104 million in tithes and RM1.6 billion in dividends to the settlers since 2012.
"Despite facing several major issues lately, these did not stop FGV from taking care of the welfare of the settlers and maintaining the good ties (with them)," he said after attending the "korban" ceremony at the Al-Makmuriah Mosque in Felda Chini 3 here today.
Also present were the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) Economic Development deputy director-general Ab Ghani Ali and Pahang Felda Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Abu Bakar Harun.
Khairil Anuar said FGV had always been focusing on the welfare of the settlers and their families without any prejudice although the company often dealt with negative perceptions due to instigation from irresponsible quarters.
Earlier, FGV donated 10 cattle to be slaughtered for the "korban".
Abu Bakar, who is Chini state assemblyman, distributed the meat to residents in the area. — Bernama
