Five contractors detained for investigation into false claims (Updated)

    JOHOR BARU: Five contractors were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for making fraudulent claims totalling RM400,000.
    Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias said in a statement that the five contractors from various companies had allegedly made the claims through the "One District One Industry" (SDSI) programme and the "Small and Medium Enterprise Week" programme at the state level.
    In statement issued today, Azmi said the programmes were found to be non-existent.
    The "One district one industry" programs were allegedly implemented in Segamat, Mersing, Muar, Kluang, Tangkak and Kulai.
    The suspects who were arrested on Monday night have been remanded until July 23 to assist in investigations.
