Former store keepers jailed, fined RM10,000 for bribery

ALOR SETAR: Two former store keepers were sentenced to a day’s jail and fined RM10,000 each, in default six months’ jail, by the Sessions Court here today for bribing a National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) assistant two years ago.
Judge Azman Abu Hassan meted out the sentence on Goh Yee Chian, 28, and Yong Kim Loong, 39, after the two men pleaded guilty to the charge, which was read out to them in Mandarin by a court interpreter.
They were charged with offering RM1,500 to AADK assistant Azmeer Syaufy Ruslan as an inducement for him to alter the results of their urine test from positive to negative.
The offence was committed at the public toilet of the Bukit Kayu Hitam Immigration, Customs and Quarantine Complex near Kubang Pasu at 10.30 am on Aug 14, 2015.
Prosecuting officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Syahrul Khuzaini Amiruddin , prosecuted, while Goh and Yong were unrepresented. — Bernama
