Gold-hungry Malaysia land 7 more by lunchtime

PETALING JAYA: Gold-hungry Malaysia continued their relentless pursuit of medals at the SEA Games with a haul of seven gold by lunchtime today.
Wushu exponent Ho Mun Hua gave Malaysia a golden start to the third day of competition by winning the Nanqua event at KLCC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Ho delivered Malaysia's fifth wushu gold — his first SEA Games gold medal after failing in the four previous campaigns.
Loh Jack Chang made it two for the national wushu team when he won the taijiquan gold.
Malaysia's earlier gold medals in wushu came from three other exponents. Yeap Wai Kin grabbed two from the men's jianshu and qiangshu events while Diana Bong (women's nanquan) and Loh Jack Chang (men's taijijian) landed one each.
Malaysia only managed to claim two gold medals in wushu at the last SEA Games in Singapore two years ago.
The Malaysian gymnastics team continued the golden streak by claiming two more gold through Tan Ing Yueh in the women's vault event and a joint-gold by two Malaysians who finished on top with equal points in the men's pommel horse event.
Tan Fu Jie and Jeremiah Loo Phay Xing took the gold after finishing tied on points at the top.
The Malaysian dressage team led by Qabil Ambak galloped to gold at the 3Q Equestrian Centre in Rawang.
The 37-year-old Qabil is making a comeback after 10 years. He won the team gold with Quzandria Nur, Edric Lee and Quek Sue Yian.
Shooter Alia Sazana Azahari fired Malaysia ahead with another gold in the women's 25m pistol event .
Malaysia also bagged its second gold medal in cycling in the men's road team time trial event in Nilai, Negri Sembilan.
Muhd Ameen Ahmad Kamal, Muhd Ameer Ahmad Kamal, Fauzan Lufti and Nik Mohd Azwan Zulkifle finished the 51km distance race in a time of 1'01:37.893. Thailand won the silver with 1'01:56.104 while Vietnam took bronze with 1'012:00.891.
Harrif Saleh defended his men's criterium event gold medal on Monday.
