Gov't approves 10 new Chinese schools and relocates 6 others

PUTRAJAYA: The government has approved the establishment of 10 new Chinese schools in Johor and Selangor, while six schools with poor enrollment will be relocated.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said that the move was in line with the demand from the public, he said at a press conference here today.
"The development of new Chinese schools is a reflection of the government's commitment in fulfilling the educational needs of the Chinese community," Mahdzir said.
The 10 schools are SJK (C) Kuek Ho Yao in Mount Austin, Tebrau, Johor, SJK (C) Sim Mow Yu, Tmn Bisdari Perdana, Plentong, JB, Johor, SJK (C) Tan Kah Kee, Kulai, Johor, SJK (C) Cheah Fah, Pulai, JB, SJK (C) Lee Loy Seng, Bdr Seri Coalfields, Ijok, Kuala Selangor, SJK (C) Sunsuria, Badar Sunsuria, Sepang, Selangor, SJK (C) Tun Ong Yoke Lin, Gamuda Cove, Kuala Langat, Selangor, SJK (C) Tun Lim Chong Eu, Eco Grandeur, Puncak Alam, Selangor, and SJK (C) Too Joon Hing, Dengkil, Sepang, Selangor.
The six schools to be relocated are SJK (C) Poay Chai, Singkir, Kedah to Tmn Bkt Indah, Johor, SJK (C) Poi Min, Gopeng, Perak to Puchong Perdana, Puchong, SJK (C) Aik Hua, Taiping, Perak to Kota Seriemas, Negri Sembilan, SJK (C) Ladang Regent, Gemencheh, Negri Sembilan to Bandar Elmina, Selangor (new name to be revealed later), SJK (C) Panching, Kuantan, Pahang to Kota SAS, Pahang, and SJK (C) Ladang Grisek, Bkt Gambir, Ledang, Johor to Tmn Kota Masai (new name to be announced).
Also present at the press conference were MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, and Deputy Education Minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had said during the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) dialogue with Chinese youths on Saturday that an announcement on new Chinese schools could be expected very soon.
