ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor Government today condemned the opposition for arbitrarily claimed that the introduction of the Malay reserved land policy in the state only benefited a certain elite group.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said it was the Malays who wanted such policy to be introduced.
"The application to turn it into Malay reserved land was made by the Malays themselves and when the government approves it, then it is automatically gazetted as a Malay reserved land.
"So, where is the truth in the allegation that this Malay reserved land is benefiting the elites?" he asked in the state legislative assembly here today.
Mohamed Khaled was replying to a question from Tan Hong Pin (DAP-Mengkibol).
He said there was 29.4% of Malay reserved land in Johor which was higher than the two opposition-led states, namely Selangor (20.2%) and Penang (0%). — Bernama
