JOHOR BARU: The Johor Government hopes the federal government will pay attention to those in the bottom 40% of household income group (B40) and the middle 40% of household income group or M40 in the 2018 Budget.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said this was to ensure the groups would be able to cope with the challenges of today's life, especially the rising cost of living.
"We hope the government will look into ways to address the people's living costs and at the same time pay attention to the M40.
"Those in B40 group receive various programmes, however it is time to come up with schemes to help out the M40 group, as well," he said after launching the national level Blue Ocean Strategy My Beautiful Neighbourhood (NBOS MyBN) programme at Pengkalan Nelayan Tampoi Utama today.
The 2018 Budget will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who is also Finance Minister, in Parliament on Oct 27.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Khaled said the NBOS MyBN, a 'gotong-royong' programme, had succeeded in translating Johor's sustainability policy, which was also the state's aspiration to become a developed state, Islamic, clean as well as environment-friendly. — Bernama
