Kl shares open lower in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia opened lower today prompted by the weak overnight performance on Wall Street.
At 9.20am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.29 of-a-point easier at 1,790.72 from Tuesday's 1,791.01, after opening 1.33 points lower at 1,789.68.

Market breadth was negative with decliners outpacing gainers 209 to 175 while 252 counters were unchanged, 1,132 untraded and 19 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 316.72 million shares worth RM175.62 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank and TNB slipped two sen to RM9.57 and RM14.18, respectively, Public Bank gained four sen to RM20.34, while CIMB and Petronas Chemicals rose three sen each to RM6.77 and RM7.23, respectively.
Actively traded stocks this morning included Borneo Oil, FGV, Vivocom, GD Express and Metronic.
Hong Leong Bank led the list of top gainers, adding 18 sen to RM15.46, while the top loser was Pentamaster which fell eight sen to RM3.67.
The FBM Emas Index added 1.87 points to 12,744.82, the FBMT100 Index rose 2.29 points to 12,385.41 while the FBM Emas Syariah Index improved 2.32 points to 12,940.67.
The FBM 70 bagged 18.86 points to 15,119.97 while the FBM Ace perked 0.98 of-a-point to 6,342.38.
On a sectorial basis, the Finance Index gained 27.54 points to 16,889.96, the Industrial Index slipped 3.68 points to 3,298.19 and the Plantation Index trimmed 2.89 points to 7,948.27.
Gold futures contract on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives was untraded this morning.
As at 9.40am, spot month June 2017, July, August and September stood unchanged at RM176.60 a gramme, RM177 a gramme, RM177.50 a gramme and RM177.65 a gramme, respectively.
Turnover was nil while open interest amounted to 224 contracts.
At 9.30am, physical gold was up 46 sen at RM171.69 per gramme. — Bernama
