Malaysia, Japan signed memorandum of cooperation in the field of healthcare

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Japan today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC)  in the Field of Healthcare with the aim to promote cooperation in Universal Health Coverage (UHC), said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
He said the MoC was signed after a bilateral meeting with  Minister of Health Labour and Welfare of Japan, Yasuhisa Shiozaki on the sidelines of Asean-Japan Health Ministers' Meeting on UHC and Population Ageing held today in Tokyo, Japan.
"The Memorandum of Cooperation among others is to promote medical technology, disease control and surveillance, training and research development," he said in a statement posted in his official Facebook page, today. 
Meanwhile, The Asean and Japan Health Leaders today reaffirmed their close collaboration and pledged commitment to develop Asean-Japan Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Initiatives to achieve and advance sustainable UHC in Asean and Japan towards 2030.
The statement also said that the meeting shall continuously advocate on the need for a more comprehensive approach in building sustainable and resilient health systems in meeting the country's various health challenges. — Bernama
