Malaysia on right track to succeed: Rafidah

GEORGE TOWN: Malaysia is on the right track towards a stable future and developed nation status, accordint to former international trade and industry minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
She cited major issues faced by the country such as human skills, economic performance and cohesiveness among the people.
"As far as I am concerned, these are major items. Once we get all these major things in place, Insyallah, we will be able to move forward as we expect ... not in 100 days, but to be in good times," she told reporters after attending the 'Nurture, Engage, eXchange (NEX) Leadership Conference', here today.
She said the people's expectations of the new government were high but Malaysians must be realistic as development did not happen overnight.
"The government must govern and be adaptable, and not allow itself to be distracted by unrealistic, selfish and even petty demands of some quarters," she said.
She added that the policies needed to be adaptable too and able to meet new demands and situations.
Rafidah said she was glad that the Pakatan Harapan government had tabled their maiden budget that was comprehensive enough to cover major items.
She described the proposed RM314.5 billion 2019 Budget as a very realistic budget that would raise investors' confidence in Malaysia.
"It does not offer people false hope. It is a budget that tells you as it is. I would say there would be a higher confidence level after the budget announcement, but don't forget we still have to market ourself in order to attract investors," she added. — Bernama
