KUALA LANGAT: Umno information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said more political figures from Pakatan Harapan (PH) will join or return to Umno, following in the footsteps of former Selangor Mentri Besar, Tan Sri Muhammad Muhamad Taib.
He said the announcement (on the crossovers to Umno) would be made from time to time.
"I confirm there will more party members from PH who will join or return to Umno. We will announce it in stages. We just have to wait," he told reporters after a public talk and dialogue session at Kolej Mara Banting, here, yesterday.
Annuar was asked to comment on media reports that eight Selangor assemblymen were supposed to join Muhammad Taib, also known by his popular moniker Mat Tyson, when his return to Umno was announced last Sunday.
Muhammad Taib quit Umno in 2013 to join PAS and then left the Islamist party to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in 2015.
Annuar said the friction among the component parties of PH, the absence of an agenda on their part to develop the nation and the people's economy were reasons for some of their leaders wanting to join Umno and Barisan Nasional.
"PH does not really want to help the people and develop the country, but they are just tussling for power and spewing slander and false accusations," he said.
He added that many of the issues such as 1MDB and donation from the Saudi Arabian royal family had been answered, hence, the people could see for themselves the opposition's dirty politics. — Bernama
