PAP urges RoS to immediately resolve probe on DAP

GEORGE TOWN: The People's Alternative Party (PAP) today urged the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to immediately resolve the investigation on the DAP to determine the status of the party before the next general election (GE).
PAP vice-chairman Rahmad Isahak said the investigation had been going on for so long to the extent of exceeding three years and this should not have happened unless the DAP had usurped the powers of the RoS.
He claimed that the status of the DAP's Central Executive Committee (CEC) which had yet to receive recognition reflected as though the RoS was not professional in carrying out the investigation on the party.
"The DAP is a political party that frequently posed problems to the country especially concerning racial harmony and at the same time involved some confusion to the Islamic religion.
"The PAP also urges the RoS to state the position of the DAP before the process of registering Pakatan Harapan under a single logo, otherwise the PAP would protest against the application," he told reporters, here today.

Meanwhile, Rahmad claimed that under the present situation, the DAP actually could not approve the membership of the party or collect subscription from its members.
"Where will the subscription money collected be channeled to? Will the RoS continue to keep quiet?" he asked.
RoS had earlier directed the the CEC election be held again after there were claims of election rigging and vote manipulation in the election on Dec 15, 2012.
The CEC reelection on Sept 29, 2013 had also not been recognised yet in addition to the protest made by former party members who claimed to have received votes from the delegates whereas they were no longer DAP members. — Bernama
