Penang police cut power supply to 30 illegal gambling oulets

GEORGE TOWN: Penang police have cut the electricity supply to 30 illegal gambling premises and family entertainment centres which violated their entertainment licence in favour of gambling activities.
State police CID chief, SAC Zainol Samah said since May 25 until today, police had been conducting "Op Dadu" to stamp out illegal and online gambling activities.
"In Seberang Perai Tengah,10 illegal gambling outlets and family entertainment centres which abused their entertainment licence were detected, Northeast district (eight), Seberang Perai Utara (eight), Southwest district (three) and Seberang Perai Selatan (one)," he said when contacted, here, today.
He added that during the same period, 55 raids were conducted through the special operation and 347 people arrested including customers and the operators.
Police also seized 147 slot machines, 140 simulators, two computers used for gambling and RM31,133 in cash during the raids.
"We are taking continuous drastic action against illegal gambling activities in Penang and our target is to completely eradicate it.
"Hence, we urge members of the public to cooperate by channelling information on such activities to the police," Zainol said. — Bernama
