KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said planning development of livable areas need public participation so that the government can meet the people's needs by transforming the civil service and to raise productivity.
"Public participation in planning development is very much in line with the government's aspirations and the concept of 'People First, Performance Now'.
"The strategy of extending the reach of services with the people's involvement can provide an effective platform for identifying and resolving issues creatively and comprehensively," he said when opening the Sabah Planning Conference in conjunction with the World Town Planning Day 2017 here, today.
His text of the speech was read by Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor.
Musa praised the State Town and Regional Planning Department for providing a comprehensive Sabah Structure Plan 2033 (PSS2033) which outlines the state's physical and social development planning policy,
He said the PSS2033 was a solid start to realising the desire of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Adbul Razak to achieve the 2050 National Transformation Plan (TN50). — Bernama
