PR1MA to build more homes in Sabah

PETALING JAYA: Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) is set to develop 30,155 units of affordable homes with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM7.5 billion in Sabah.
The housing body said in a statement today that the project has been approved by the PR1MA Members of Corporation (MOC), which makes Sabah the recipient of the second highest number of PRIMA projects approved for development.
Close to 16,000 units will be priced below RM300,000, which, according to the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) is below the average market price of RM400,000, for properties developed by private developers in the west coast of Sabah.
“We understand that in tandem with socio-economic development and the rising quality of life in Sabah, the size of the middle-income group has also expanded in recent years. However, Sabahans’ ability to own a home has also been hindered by the high prices of properties as well as the tightening of bank loans.
"To address these issues, the government established PR1MA to build market quality homes that are priced on average 20% lower than market rate. These homes are equipped with features and amenities suited for the modern Malaysian M40 lifestyle,” said PR1MA CEO Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias.
PR1MA will also be opening its first sales office in the state, located at Aeropod, Kota Kinabalu in August. The centre will act as its central hub for planning, developing and maintaining PR1MA’s Sabah-wide projects.
It will also be showcasing the projects in the "Ekspo Jualan Perumahan – Ke Arah Sejuta Impian”, the largest home expo series in the state, held from March 15 till 19.
