Remains of drowned victim sent home to Indonesia today

KUALA LUMPUR: The remains of Indonesian Hashir, 38, one of the five victims who drowned when swept by the strong current while fishing at Sungai Gasi, near the Sungai Buloh Camp near here, two days ago, was sent back to his village in Bangkalan, Madura, Indonesia today.
A counselor at the Indonesian Embassy here, Yusron Ambary, said the embassy had issued a release letter and provided the necessary documents for the remains to be brought back to the republic.
"A letter has been issued, among others, stating that the victim died of drowning and the remains to be brought back to Indonesia for burial.
"There will be family members waiting to receive the remains at the Surabaya airport," he said when contacted by Bernama.
Five people drowned, while three others managed to swim to safety, after they were swept by strong current while fishing at Sungai Gasi at about 5.40pm last Monday.
Hashir's body was the first to be found, at 9.49pm on the day of the incident. — Bernama
