SANDAKAN: Police today recorded statements from seven students of two secondary schools who are believed to have been involved in a fight at Dataran Harbour Mall, here on Friday.
District Police chief ACP Azhar Mohd Hamin said the students were brought by their teachers to the Sandakan police station at 11am to facilitate investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
The students aged between 15 and 17 were later released on police bail.
A video clip of the incident went viral in Facebook.
In a statement today, Azhar said the incident happened after one student uploaded a photograph and was ridiculed in WeChat.
He said a police officer from the Criminal Investigation Department and a Sandakan Police school communications officer had earlier taken followup action by meeting the principals and disciplinary teachers of the two schools to identify the students involved. — Bernama
