KUALA LUMPUR: The Fourth International Sustainable Energy Summit (ISES 2018) themed, "Sustainable Energy: The Future is Here", will be held on April 10-11 in Kuching, Sarawak.
The summit is co-organised by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) under the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, and the Sarawak state government.
Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to open the summit and host a gala dinner in conjunction with the event.
SEDA chief executive officer, Catherine Ridu said the summit would have three plenary sessions and 10 deep-dive workshops (DDWs), and in total around 80 international and local thought leaders have been invited as speakers and chairs.
"Key topics to be discussed at the plenary sessions include envisioning the future of electricity market at the global level, initiatives by both national and state governments to transform the current electricity market, and reinventing the business model for power utilities in the future electricity market," she said.
Ridu, who also the organising chair of the summit, added that in line with the Sarawak government's strategic vision on digitisation of the electricity system and the global trend in sustainable energy, the summit would introduce two new topics under the DDWs — The Future Role of Blockchain in the Energy Market and The Emergence of Energy Storage Systems.
More information on the summit can be accessed from www.ises.gov.my and the Whova event application is downloadable from the mobile application store. — Bernama
