SHAH ALAM: Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has urged Selangor folk to abide by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah's decree allowing the three PAS executive councillors (exco) to remain in the state government until the next general election.
"The sultan's decree proves that he understands the plight of the people, where they want those who were given the mandate to continue leading and providing stability in the state.
"The sultan also decreed that some irresponsible people must stop speculating about the Selangor government's stability.
"We are very stable and strong and we will carry the people's mandate until the 14th general election. Our focus should develop and bring stability to Selangor,"Azmin said during the State Development Corporation (PKNS) Uptown Shah Alam (Section 24) redevelopment project groundbreaking ceremony today.
Also present were Selangor Youth Development, Sports, Culture and Entrepreneurial Development Committee chairman Amirudin Shari, PKNS chief executive officer Noraida Mohd Yusof and Selangor Housing, Building, Management and Urban Living Committee chairman Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad.
Meanwhile, Iskandar, who is among the three PAS exco members, said the sultan's decree would enable him and the rest of Selangor state leadership to focus on their work in serving the people.
"I think the most important thing is the state's stability and rakyat.
"There's too much politics going on and now it's better for us to focus on the rakyat because that is what we have been elected for in the last general election," he said.
Meanwhile, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said he welcomed and respected the sultan's consent to ensure administrative stability in the state government.
"I am confident the spirit of our three exco members and the 10 assemblymen had never wavered in trusting Tuanku Sultan and continuing the mandate given to us to ensure stability and harmony in Selangor remain high," he said in a statement.
Later in a statement, Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi said the party welcomed and appreciated the trust given by the sultan, and thanked PKR for its stand to retain and not expel its three exco members.
He said PAS had always remained loyal regardless of who the mentri besar was.
"PAS Selangor, through its three exco and 10 state assemblymen, will continue to work hard and serve at our best with the mentri besar and other state excos and assemblymen.
