Teenager suspected involved in 18 armed robberies detained

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A teenager, suspected of involvement in 11 armed-gang robberies reported in the Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district has been detained, SPT district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said today.
He said, the suspect, aged 18, was detained during a raid in Taman Sejahtera here at about 10pm last Thursday and the police were looking for his two accomplices, who are in their 20s.
They targeted on victims returning from work and who were alone, he said.

In another development, he said also detained a 40-year-old mechanic for allegedly stealing vehicle components from a workshop at the Perniagaan Sungai Rambai area here.
He said the suspect was detained behind a restaurant at Lorong Tembikai 1 here and police seized several vehicle components from him. — Bernama
