KUALA LUMPUR: The Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is making his first state visit to Malaysia, was officially welcomed in a ceremony at Parliament Square here today.
The event was graced by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V. Also in attendance was Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
Sheikh Tamim and Najib are scheduled to meet in the country's administrative capital Putrajaya today.
This evening, the Qatari monarch is to grace a state banquet at Istana Negara.
The two-day visit is at the invitation of Sultan Muhammad V. — Bernama
