Wedding planner charged with cheating bride of RM8,500

JOHOR BARU: The owner of bridal company "Zurin Jundi" was charged in the magistrate's court here today with cheating a woman of RM8,500 in wedding package services this year.
Zurina Ahmad Zundi, 34, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias.
Zurina was charged with deceiving Nor Ika Nadzirah Sirajudin into believing that she offered wedding package services, hence prompting Nor Ika Nadzirah to hand over RM8,500 in deposit payment for her wedding, which was held last Sept 16.
The offence was allegedly committed at the Zurin Jundi Wedding Planner boutique in Bandar Baru Uda between March 22 and May 13 this year.
She was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code and faced and imprisonment for up to 10 years and with whipping, and liable to fine, if found guilty.
The court set bail at RM6,000 with one surety and fixed Dec 17 for the mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Mohd Nasir prosecuted, while Zurina was unrepresented. – Bernama
