Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd has received approval to operate as a designated payment instrument (DPI) issuer in Sabah, marking a major expansion of its digital payroll and e-wallet services for foreign workers. Effective 1 December 2025, the mandate—granted under the Sabah Labour Ordinance—enables employers across the state to use Merchantrade’s payroll portal and Merchantrade Money e-wallet to manage wage payments in full compliance with Malaysian labour laws.
