Housing Ministry wins Most Excellent Ministry 2024, awards staff with overseas scholarships and cash prizes for outstanding performance

KUALA LUMPUR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) maintains excellence through integrity and forward-thinking human capital development.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said staff commitment to development policies has balanced physical development, social wellbeing and environmental sustainability.

“This is the type that we need to lift up as excellence should not be allowed to drown in mediocrity in the civil service ecosystem,” he said during his speech at the KPKT Minister’s Excellence Award Ceremony (AKM) 2025.

He emphasised that high performance must become the norm for all civil servants.

The ministry’s success was acknowledged when it was chosen as the Most Excellent and High Performing Ministry 2024.

KPKT created history by winning four major awards, including the National Development Award 2024 for planning and implementing high-impact projects.

The AKM 2025 awards provide civil servants opportunities to study at renowned universities like Harvard and Melbourne on full scholarships.

“This initiative reflects KPKT’s commitment towards knowledge, leadership and excellence,” Nga added.

AKM 2025 features 10 categories including Minister’s Excellence Award, Best Leadership, and Excellent Local Authority.

National Solid Waste Management Department director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Azhar Abd Hamid won the Minister’s Excellence Award.

He described it as a duty to continue responsibilities with integrity and best practices.

Since its 2023 introduction, the biennial AKM has become a prestigious ceremony celebrating excellent civil servants.

Winners receive certificates, trophies, up to RM20,000 cash, and overseas course opportunities for selected categories. – Bernama
