MATRADE expects continued export momentum under new MITI minister Johari Abdul Ghani, citing his extensive financial and corporate experience.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has expressed confidence in the new leadership at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).

Its chairman, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, said the appointment of Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as minister will strengthen the national export agenda.

“The extensive experience of Johari, coupled with his strong professional background in finance, accounting, auditing and corporate affairs, represents a key asset,” he said in a statement.

Reezal Merican noted Johari’s previous cabinet roles have been instrumental in shaping policies related to investment, trade and industry.

MATRADE added that Johari’s corporate leadership experience provides practical insights into global supply chains.

The agency expressed confidence that the momentum achieved under former minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Aziz would continue.

It described the appointment as timely for positioning Malaysia as a dynamic regional hub for trade and industry.
