A Chinese influencer missing for 26 days was found injured and homeless in Cambodia after being lured by a job promise
A shocking case has gripped China after a young Chinese social media influencer was found severely injured by the roadside in Cambodia, 26 days after she went missing.
The woman, known online as Umi, is a 20-year-old from Fujian Province who had built a following by showcasing a glamorous lifestyle online.
She previously worked at a high-end club and had around 58,000 followers on social media, The Straits Times reported.
In early December 2025, Umi told her family and followers that she was travelling to Cambodia at the invitation of her Chinese boyfriend, who claimed to own a successful business there.
She said she had been promised a high-paying job and a prosperous future together. Despite repeated warnings from friends and fans, she decided to go ahead with the trip.
Shortly after arriving in Cambodia, all contact with her was lost.
After 26 days of silence, Umi was discovered by the roadside in critical condition. She appeared homeless, disoriented and barely able to communicate.
Reports said both her legs were broken, her body was covered in bruises, and she showed clear signs of physical abuse. She was reportedly holding X-ray films showing injuries to her legs.
A Chinese national in the area intervened to help, and she was later rescued by local Chinese residents.
The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia has since confirmed the case, providing medical assistance and arranging for her treatment at a local hospital.
Plans are underway for her return to China once her condition stabilises.
