32-year-old earning RM21k says he feels like his salary is not enough

“I just got a promotion and my salary is now RM21k. But I still feel like it’s not enough.”

A man’s confession has sparked heated discussion online after he admitted that earning RM21,000 a month isn’t adequate.

In an anonymous post, the 32-year-old shared on X that he earns RM15,000 from his main job, plus another RM3,000 from part-time work.

He was recently promoted, pushing his income to RM21,000 — an amount many would consider more than comfortable.

But instead of feeling relieved, he feels lost and anxious.

“I don’t know what’s wrong,” he wrote.

Despite having no car loan, only renting a house, and maintaining what appears to be a stable lifestyle, he said his savings are not growing at all.

The post left many netizens stunned. Many advised him to track his expenses.

“First, you need to be diligent in tracking your expenses. If you don’t track them, you won’t have any data. Write everything down on your computer. Group the costs into categories like food, car, and house rent. Study where your money is actually going, then create a budget to cut back on expenses. All of this takes effort.”

While another netizen said:

“Your money management is totally wrecked. Sometimes you can just do these things yourself. List down every time money goes out and separate what’s a need and what’s a want. But if you can’t even tell the difference between needs and wants, then you’re really doomed.”
