Malaysians praise Perodua Bezza after it’s spotted as Papua New Guinea police patrol car in viral TikTok video
PERODUA Bezza has brought pride to Malaysia after being spotted as the official patrol car for Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) police department.
A viral TikTok video showing a fleet of Perodua Bezza cars equipped with sirens and police decals has drawn attention and praise from Malaysians online.
PNG, often regarded as one of the less developed nations in the region, has chosen the Malaysian-made budget sedan — priced between RM34,580 and RM50,000 — as part of its police fleet.
Many Malaysians expressed pride in seeing a local brand gaining international recognition.
“Other countries appreciate the craftsmanship of our local talents and even use them for their national security forces. This shows that our products have their own standards and quality, which some countries recognise and value among the many options in the international automotive market,” said user Adrian Han.
He said that Perodua remains a young player in the automotive industry and has faced numerous challenges — from funding to technology — to reach its current level.
“Without the support and demand from customers like us, how could they move forward and improve to one day be on par with international car brands?” Adrian added.
Some commenters viewed the move as a milestone for Malaysia’s automotive industry, noting that while local police often use international models such as the Honda Civic, it was a moment of pride to see a Malaysian car serving abroad.
Others jokingly suggested that the “road king” Myvi would make an even better patrol car, thanks to its speed and smooth handling.
