MCA aims sustain cricket development through Penjana Kerjaya 2.0

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) aims to assure sustainability in the development of the sport, through the Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 Hiring Incentive scheme.

Its president, Mohammed Iqbal Ali said 40 selected candidates will undergo 90-day practical and theoretical training in coaching and sports administration under the hiring scheme.

“The candidates known as ‘Krikblazers’ are boys and girls aged 18-30 years representing all states in the country to be exposed with the modules that have been tailor-made by Cyberlynx International.

“We are therefore elated to be able to empower our facilitators, coaches and players through this programme offered by Cyberlynx International. Through these skill sets, we are assured of sustainability in the development of cricket,” he said in a statement today.

Among others, the ‘Krikblazers’ will be trained in administration of sports organisations, sports business development, coaching and fitness basics, digital and multimedia marketing, sports facility management, coach accreditation MCA Level 0 and Level 1, and MCA umpire’s refresher courses.

Mohammed Iqbal said during the programme, the participants will be seconded to shadow Cricket Malaysia Development Officers, who will impart the finer points on Cricket Adiwira (entry-level programme in schools) coaching.

Upon completing the training, the participants, armed with all the right skills and tools, will return to their respective home-states and be able to conduct freelance coaching, and or activate the Cricket Adiwira programme.

“The ultimate eventuality will be for them to manage their own cricket academies or cricket clubs if they choose to,” he added.

All the participants will receive allowances and be awarded certificates.

The Penjana Kerjaya 2.0 Hiring Incentive scheme is an economic recovery initiative under the Ministry of Human Resources that was introduced following the country's economy adversely impacted as a result of the Covid pandemic. -Bernama
