Grammy winner continues her A*Pop rollout with a heartfelt, dance-driven single and a visually striking music video.
Continuing the march towards her forthcoming sophomore studio album A*Pop, Grammy winner Tyla has dropped her latest single, Is It Love that puts Tyla’s genre-blending approach for a summery blend that is heavy on both vocal prowess and narrative.
Another entry in her music discography that moves bodies while saying something deeply personal underneath. The emotional weight behind Is It Love, carried by a club-ready rhythm, is exactly the juxtaposition that has kept Tyla’s larger-than-life rise feel intimate.
The song’s tangible intensity can also be seen with the single’s accompanying music video.
Visual spiral of heartbreak and desire
Directed by Aerin Moreno, Tyla creates an atmosphere filled with despair and longing as she completely immerses herself into the energy of Is It Love.
At the onset of the video, the young superstar is engaged in enthralling choreography, prancing around an apartment adored with blue-tinted hues. However, as the video progresses, so does Tyla’s despondency and her surroundings begin to deteriorate.
Glass is shattered and flooding begins as she continues her choreography, punctuated by the appearance of a love interest observing the scene from outside the window.
They are close together physically but their souls are far apart.
Tyla’s winning streak continues
Is It Love comes following the release of previous singles Chanel and She Did It Again with Zara Larsson, along with several other collaborative tracks with other artists last year.
Awards season has already been kind to Tyla in the lead-up to her album release. In addition to this year’s Grammy victory, she was victorious at The American Music Awards, taking home prizes for Best Afrobeats Artist and Social Song of the Year’ for Chanel.
Similarly for Chanel, she is also up for two 2026 BET Awards — Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice — on June 28.
